Visiting places in sheer spontaneity can actually be exhilarating and gives new life to the old bones — especially if you're going outdoors to enjoy nature! ![]()
Today, January 15, 2008, our feet has taken us to

People's Park
– a newly created public park that resides in the heart of downtown Davao. If you know where the old PTA was, there it resides. It usually has plenty of people but today hm-mm… just so so. ![]()
To share my adventure with me today were Tephi (of course I always tag her along
), my sister Hera and her son, Tephi's cousin, Gyle, Ares' Best friend, Tsurugi and Ares' Girlfriend, Kristine. Ares can't tag along because he was not feeling well and Charlie is at the office working. So we 6 set out, riding a jeep to People's Park.
Now at Peoples Park, we got through the usual checking up the bags for safety and stuff and the frisking and everything just to go in. You know how it is, everybody now a days is pro active in the fight against terrorism.
This is just one of the routines to ensure safety in the premises. ![]()
Inside, the first thing I noticed were the statues of the place. For me, it was… hmmm… well…. how shall we word it…. me no likey….
… because all of them kinda remind me of Kokey. For those who don't know Kokey is from a tv program where in he plays an alien from another planet, got to earth to find adventure. For enlightening purposes, here is what I mean:
Kokey /i\ Statue /I\
See what I mean?? Not to discourage Kokey fans or give negative light to Kokey, but for my artistic sense and statues for a park, it doesn't click you know… But in fairness ha, the statues were beautifully painted and their skin looks like bronze with highlights of olive, gold and chocolate brown. What beautiful colored skin! ![]()
Picture here and Picture There…. We have been everywhere. We were posing and posing and posing and… oh! also drinking in the atmosphere before settling down to a spot to eat…. ![]()
Having found a spot where we can stretch and unwind, we brought out the food stuff for our trip and also we brought along our picnic blanket to make us feel the spirit of having a picnic. (hahahaha)
We had sharp cheddar potato chips, scrumptious egg sandwiches, chocolate cake, conics, iced tea, milk (for tephi and her cousin, gyle)
After eating, we walked around the big park and took pictures of the park and here are some of the scenes in the park.
Poses with the Statues… Why are we here again? ![]()
Some of the scenic places in People's Park
One of the interesting artworks in the park. A recycled cardboard pillar with different engravements depicting the traditional lifestyle of a Davaoeño like shown inset. The lighting makes it even more dramatic, mysterious and interesting.
Ahh… as the sun set… well actually it was waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy over sunset…. it was 7:00 pm, our feet were beaten up and we decided to go home… We have to make Tephi eat food too and cousin Gyle to study. Plus Kristine was missing Ares (and so does Tsug
hehehe! HI tsug! Peace tayo!)
On the way we passed through the mall to short cut our walk to the jeepney stop. Finally, we arrive there and got a jeep as fast as we could because we all wanted to rest…
In the jeep, I thanked God for all the time and bonding spent with my loved ones. Even if it was a cheap and short lived, the memories will stick forever in my mind (does that mean Kokey too??? hehehe)… AHHH>>> you know what i mean! ![]()
WEllll… gotta go… its 4 AM and i have to sleep already… my baby and my hubby are fast asleep waiting for me… love ya all!
mwah!
